Recruitment - Frequently Asked Questions
Here, we post questions that recruits commonly ask either during their first contact with a recruiter, or throughout their recruitment interviews. Hopefully, you can use these answers to determine whether the Paramarine Task Force is the right unit for you.
Q: What times of the week would I need to attend?
A: Upon recruitment, we ask that you attend CBAT (Combined Basic and Airborne Training) on your a Wednesday at 7PM EST, in order to attain your basic training. If you are unable to attend Wednesday at 7PM EST due to a recurring time conflict, you can schedule a private training at a time that better suits you, simply be contacting any available Drill Instructor.
Q: Are there other optional trainings?
A: Yes, we host additional trainings on most Mondays and Tuesdays. Completion of these trainings will help you to earn Lance Corporal and above. You can also attend CBAT repeatedly on Wednesday, and that will also contribute to your promotions. However, all non-recruits (anyone Private and above), will not attend the course that recruits are attending, and instead meet with a drill instructor at a separate area of the range to accomplish a higher level training.
Q: How often do we actually get to shoot bad guys?
A: Our main operation is every Saturday, and in this we ALWAYS take contact. Beyond our main operation every Saturday, members are also free to use the server when not in use for Training or Operation, for "Mini-Ops". A "Mini-Op" can scale from anywhere from 5 participants to 50 participants, and will typically be done on a premade Zeus or ALIVE mission. Generally, someone hosts one of these small, unofficial "Mini-Ops" every night.
Q: I'm not sure how to install mods. Are you able to help?
A: We use "Arma3Sync", a mod repository and installer program. It downloads the mods from our server, and installs them for you so that you can one click launch! There is a bit of configuration required, however, your recruiter can provide you with a simple installation guide upon request.
Q: What mods do you use?
A: Currently, our core modset includes RHS, Task Force Radio, CUP Terrains Complete, ACE Advanced Medical, and Enhanced Movement, alongside quite a few others. However, we update our modpack every 8 weeks to ensure that we include up-to-date mods, and some specialty mods. We also have custom mods currently in development for use with the unit.
Q: I can't attend CBAT this week! What should I do?
A: Don't worry - you have 30 days from the day of recruitment, to the day you must be a Private be. However, if it takes you longer than 30 days, you will be removed.
Q: What are your operations like?
A: Our operations tend to differ from other units. While we are made up of multiple types of military units, including 3 platoons of various types, and a mixed air wing, all of our personnel work together to accomplish an objective. It is not one operation, three missions - it is ONE mission. Because we are Paramarines, we tend to have a preference towards paradropping - typically our operations begin with a paradrop about 50% of the time.
Q: How do I become a pilot?
A: We hold air tryouts once monthly, and we are always on the lookout for good pilots. You will have to join as part of the infantry, and attend air tryouts as soon as they are held.
Q: How do I join Force Reconnaissance?
A: Similar to air, there are tryouts for Force Reconnaissance held roughly once a month. Again, you will have to join as infantry, and there are training prerequisites before you can make this transfer.
Q: Why should I join the Paramarine Task Force?
A: There are countless reasons - among them, are the fact that we have a little bit of everything - infantry, armor, air, and special operations capable forces. Whatever your desire, it should be filled here. Also, we are one of the larger Arma 3 Milsim communities. With a massive number of members, it's make our operations dynamic. There is always another squad or team over the hill, and there is a massive amount of cooperation. However, the main reason you should join the Paramarine Task Force is because we are a family. We are ALL friends - everyone appreciates the committment the other makes to the unit, and everyone enjoys playing together. When not conducting milsim operations, the teamspeak is always full of unit members playing other games together, whether that is more Arma, or GTA, or ...... Minecraft.
Q: Can my unit conduct joint operations with the Paramarine Task Force?
A: Unfortunately, though we are constantly asked for joint operations between ourselves and other units, this is not something that we participate in. Firstly, it often becomes more of a hassle than it is fun, and increases the level of disorganization on the battlefield. Beyond that, we very much focus on focusing inwards, rather than worrying about dealing with the politics between units. Though we always appreciate the interest, we do not enjoy any level of drama, and will go to lengths to avoid risking it.
